I will teach all your children, and they will enjoy great peace. Isaiah 54:13 (NLT)
Our heavenly Father made it clear that His heart’s desire was to teach every generation of His people how to live right and be at peace. As we saw in a previous chapter, Jesus came as the Prince of Peace and He left the gift of peace with His followers as He returned to Heaven. A key piece of information, however, was not discussed before. Namely, that Holy Spirit was integral to that peace that goes beyond our understanding. Let’s look at the words of Jesus recorded in John 14:
I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative — that is, the Holy Spirit — he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. John 14:25–28 (NLT)
We see here that the Holy Spirit will teach us everything. He will remind us of Jesus’ words. The gift of peace will see us through the tough seasons until Jesus’ return.
Thus, if you want to enjoy peace, you need to embrace and obey whatever the Holy Spirit teaches you. He will show you how to live and how to think as you go through life’s storms.
You will live a wholesome, peaceful life that will bring joy to our Father in Heaven. You will remember that Jesus is coming soon. Your momentary troubles cannot be compared to the glory that awaits you in His eternal presence.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
2 Corinthians 4:17 (NLT)
Pick up your Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you what you need to know as you represent God on this earth today.
- Understand that the Lord will teach us how to get peace. He offered peace as a gift, but we have to take the necessary steps to take hold of what the Lord provided.
- Invite Holy Spirit to instruct you in everything you do.
- Obey your Teacher, and lean into the peace that is ours as believers in Christ Jesus. Remember, the Holy Spirit’s teachings bring peace!
