But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! – Galatians 5:22–23 NLT

Most of us have experienced both the joy and the frustration of hosting people for a week. Inevitably, the atmosphere of your home will be influenced by the types of personalities your house guests have. If they are enthusiastic, positive, and helpful, the house will feel more energetic and hopeful. If they are cynical and cranky, the whole environment will become sluggish and subdued. After a while, no matter what you do, who they are will infect the atmosphere and mood of your home for better or worse.

In the same way, when the Holy Spirit moves into your life, His presence will produce beneficial outcomes. Paul, in our scripture above, likens these outcomes to fruit. We can expect love, joy, peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. That’s what it’s like when the Holy Spirit moves in.
