Peace Is A Fruit Of The Holy Spirit

Peace Is A Fruit Of The Holy Spirit
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22–23 (NLT)

Most of us have experienced both the joy and the frustration of hosting people for a week. Inevitably, the atmosphere of your home will be influenced by the types of personalities your house guests have. If they are enthusiastic, positive, and helpful, the house will feel more energetic and hopeful. If they are cynical and cranky, the whole environment will become sluggish and subdued. After a while, no matter what you do, who they are will infect the atmosphere and mood of your home for better or worse.

In the same way, when the Holy Spirit moves into your life, His presence will produce beneficial outcomes. Paul, in our scripture above, likens these outcomes to fruit. We can expect love, joy, peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. That’s what it’s like when the Holy Spirit moves in. Wow! What a blessing to have the Holy Spirit in our lives! Right?

When the Holy Spirit moves in, love flourishes and joy is evident to all. Subsequently, where people love each other, and pure joy is in attendance, it is just easier to be at peace. Don’t you agree? Don’t we all desire to be at peace with God and ourselves?

I think, with the Holy Spirit within us, it should be much easier to be at peace with others as well.

How? Along with peace, the other fruits of the Holy Spirit help us do better in relating to others. Patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are integral to great relationships. Whatever we need to live in peace and harmony with God, ourselves and others, are provided by Holy Spirit who moved into our hearts!

We shared in the previous chapter that the Holy Spirit’s teachings will make you peaceful. It is important to realize that He doesn’t just give us instruction, but that He also empowers us. He helps us do what He teaches us to do by providing us with everything we need.

Holy Spirit is an amazing person who fills your life with fruit. He will help you to live in peace with God, yourself, and others.

Action Steps:

  1. Take some time right now to acknowledge the Holy Spirit.
  2. Ask Holy Spirit to move in your life and infuse all of it with His precious presence.
  3. Thank Holy Spirit for the fruit, the by-product of His presence in your life. Ask Him to change the atmosphere in your heart and mind so that you can be aligned with His will today.
  4. Enter your day with the knowledge that the Holy Spirit will give you peace. Peace is a natural outflow of His presence and involvement in your life.
